Athletics Ireland is pleased to announce provisional details for the 4th meeting of the Endurance Coaches Network (ECN) on Saturday 1st April at Athlone IT. The event program will again focus on giving coaches’ practical information that they can take away and use to help improve their own coaching practice and will be delivered through plenary presentations and breakout sessions. There will be time for question & answers at all sessions also. If you are a club coach, development coach or a performance coach then this event has something to offer you. The (ECN) will bring the coaching community together again to gain & share knowledge and more importantly to network with each other. It will be hosted in the excellent surroundings of Athlone IT and run from 9.30am-5.00pm.

Steve Macklin, Athletics Ireland Coach Education Lead for Endurance said:
"I am really looking forward to ECN 4 as we have another superb line up of speakers and these coaches will share all. It should be a fantastic days sharing and learning and I encourage every endurance coach in Ireland to attend and make that investment in themselves and their athletes. As per the last event we have given more time to the breakout sessions and have also added a 2nd  practical workshop on running mechanics being run by Rene Borg. Our keynote speakers will be announced shortly but we also have some of our own Irish endurance coaches Robert Denmead, Paul McNamara and Henry Kiely/Ann O Mara presenting and sharing all”.

Preliminary results from Day 3 & 4 available on Current Year Results Tab
Message from the Indoor Secretary:
"As some of you are aware there were issues during the weekend with the timing system for the straight track (ie. 60m Sprint & Hurdles). The starting signal (which triggers the timing clocks) was only being received sporadically by the photofinish equipment at the beginning of the session. By the end of the session it wasn't being received at all. The cause is believed to be a fault in the stadium wiring under the track, however it is difficult to determine if this is correct or not until the supplier reviews the equipment. Unfortunately, Athletics Leinster can't take responsibility for this as the photofinish system is the property of the stadium.
We are sorry for any trouble this may have caused some athletes on Sunday but unfortunately it was out of our control. Any times attached in the results for the 60m Sprint are correct and accurate."

Athletics Leinster in cooperation with Athletics Ireland plan to participate in the CSIT World Games in Riga from 13-18 June. Leinster sent a Team of 12 athletes (6 male & 6 female) to represent Ireland at the last CSIT Games in Italy in 2015. We are proposing sending a similar size team this year. The entries must be submitted by early May so form will be judged on the indoor season as well as outdoor competitions until the end of April. This is very much a development initiative by Athletics Leinster and Athletics Ireland and the criteria for selection is that you must not have competed at a major international championships in the previous 4 years and you must be 18 by the date of competition.

We will be asking counties to put forward names for the selection process and will come back to you closer to the time with a deadline for same. Please see website for further details
