Furthermore, following receipt of feedback to our three proposed changes to our Athletics Leinster cross country championships, I am delighted to announce that the following 2 proposals are being adopted:
1. Rotating our cross country venues - That the hosting of our cross country championships (4 days) be rotated around each of the 10 counties in Leinster (in alphabetical order), starting with day 1 in 2026.
2. Undeclared club and county cross country teams - That all club and county cross country teams from U18 upwards (i.e. U18, U19, U20, Novice, Intermediate, Seniors, and Masters) be undeclared teams, with all clubs to enter athletes as individuals (with no additional club team fee), while counties to pay county team fee separately.)
Meanwhile proposal to change the Scoring for U18, U19, U20, Novice, Intermediate, Senior and Masters club and county cross country teams – That we calculate team results based on race times rather than placings will not be adopted at this time.
With regards the rotating of our cross country venues, Athletics Carlow are already on board to host day 1 2026, with Athletics Kildare to host day 2, Athletics Kilkenny to host day 3 and Athletics Laois to host day 4 2026.
Finally, with regards our Athletics Leinster Cross Country 2025 Booklet, same to updated to reflect all of the above and circulated in due course.
